How to distinguish the type of fiber?

Fiber is mainly divided into two types:

  Single-Mode Fiber: Generally,fiber patch cord represent by yellow , the joints and protective sleeve are blue. Multi-Mode Fiber: Generally fiber patch cord represent by orange, some are represented by gray, the joints and protective sleeve are beige or black; the transmission distance is short.

From usage: single -mode transmission is longer than multi -mode

   The fiber that only transmits one mode signal is a single -mode fiber, and the fiber that transmits multiple mode signals is multi-mode fiber. In addition, it can be distinguished by wavelength: 1. Single -mode optical fiber core diameter (about 10m m), only allow one mode transmission, dispersion working on long wavelength (1310nm and 1550nm), relatively difficult coupling with optical devices. 2. Multi -mode optical fiber core diameter (62.5m m or 50m m), allows hundreds of modes to be transmitted, Large dispersion, and works at 850nm or 1310nm. Coupling with optical devices is relatively easy.
