Demand for increased bandwidth and the resulting growth of ribbon fiber cabling in network installations has resulted in a greater need for solutions that facilitate fast and effective fiber network maintenance and repairs. Mass fusion splicers meet that need by enabling technicians to perform very fast and simple splicing of multiple fibers simultaneously.

The ribbon splicing process is similar, but most ribbon cables have stiff ribbons of 12 fibers each. A single splice tray typically accommodates 12 ribbons for 144 fibers. Each ribbon is stripped and cleaved with special tools provided with the ribbon splicer, cleaned and fusion spliced to another similar ribbon.

Ribbon splicers can splice 1 to 12 fibers all at once. The fiber holders determine the number of fibers you can splice at once. Mass splicers are not nearly as popular as the single fiber splicers, but if used on cable where more than one fiber needs to be spliced they are extremely efficient. When fiber counts of over 96 are needed, there can be up to a 65% savings on per splice costs. Let’s say on average a single fiber splice costs $25 and a ribbon splice is $110 each. At a location that needs 144 splices, the single fiber splicer would run a cost of $3600. A ribbon splicer would only perform 12 splices at a total of $1320. Now typically is Sumitomo Type-66 ,Fujikura 90R,INNO 12R ans Shinho X-950.

Shinho fusion splicer X-950, the enhanced robust features provide resistance to shock, dust, and rain to minimize downtime and improve operational performance and withstands a 30 inch drop test. Automated features such as auto-start splicing, auto-start tube heater operation, automatic ribbon fiber identification, and auto-arc calibration reduce operational steps and improve splicing performance. dual monitor position with automatic image orientation;Color LCD display and anti-reflective coating for excellent visibility in bright sunlight. Simultaneous battery charge and splicer operation; Long life battery (up to 150 splice/heat cycles per charge).
