Use and maintenance of fusion splicer

An optical fiber splicing machine is an essential piece of equipment in optical fiber and cable engineering and maintenance, which can complete the splicing of single-mode, multi-mode, dispersion-shifted and non-zero dispersion-shifted optical fibers. The structure of the optical fiber welding machine is precise and expensive, and many places need attention in the daily use and maintenance process.
The optical fiber splicing machine should be placed in a special carrying box for transportation, to avoid vibration, bump and flip during transportation. It is recommended to keep the outer packing case for long-distance transportation.
The optical fiber splicing machine is a high-precision equipment, which has requirements on the operating environment (taking the Shinho X500 single-core optical fiber welding machine as an example, its operating environment is: altitude 0~5000 meters, temperature -10~50 degrees, humidity 0~95% non-condense). In the daily use process, should avoid direct sunlight, rain and snow, low temperature, wind and sand and other harsh environment operations, or equipped with umbrellas, tents and other tools protection equipment.
The power supply of the optical fiber splicer generally has three types, AC power, built-in battery and DC power supply. When using a small generator to supply power to the device, a voltage-regulating power supply should be equipped to prevent the impulse current from damaging the high-voltage pack of the device.
In field construction, attention should be paid to cleaning work. Ensure that the optical fiber jig, mirror and V-groove clean, such as dust or foreign matter, can be cleaned with anhydrous alcohol cotton. Develop the habit of closing the storm cover to avoid dust and optical fiber debris falling into the machine. General optical fiber welding machine provides an automatic start function, after closing the windproof cover automatically start welding, it is recommended to turn off this function.
Fiber cleaver is an important part of the splicing machine, and the cleaving quality of optical fiber is an important guarantee of splicing. Keep the fiber presser pin, V-groove and cutting blade clean during use. When the cleaving quality is significantly reduced, the cleaver blade can be rotated to the next knife edge, and the blade should be replaced in time after the blade has been used.
The optical fiber splicer will provide a variety of splicing modes corresponding to different optical fibers, and the appropriate splicing mode should be selected according to the type of optical fiber. Non-professionals should not modify the parameters in the mode to not affect the welding quality.
When the splicer fails, the self-test function of the machine can eliminate part of the problem or find the cause of the problem. If the problem is still unresolved, contact the supplier in time. Do not disassemble the machine by yourself.
It is recommended to do a comprehensive maintenance of the machine every year, and do a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the optical path, mechanical transmission, electrodes, batteries, cleavers and other parts of the equipment.
