Why is the fiber cleaver still not good after changing the blade?

Fiber cleavers cut quartz glass optical fibers as thin as hair. Only when the end of the cut optical fiber is still flat after being magnified hundreds of times, it can be used for device packaging, cold splicing, and discharge splicing. The blade of the optical fiber cleaver is a consumable part. After long-term cutting, it will directly affect the cutting effect of the optical fiber, thereby affecting the splicing result.

If we encounter a bad end face during cleaving, we will first change the cleaving point of the blade or continue using it after changing the blade. If the cutting effect is still not ideal after replacing the new blade, there are the following reasons:

1. Blade damage: A normal blade has no gaps and has a complete arc. A damaged blade can see gaps on the blade.

2. Bounce fiber top block: The height of the bounce fiber top block of the fiber cleaver determines the force on the fiber cutting pad. If the height is not ideal, the cutting effect will also be unsatisfactory.

3. Rubber pads: The rubber pads on both sides of the blade play a role in fixing the optical fiber. If worn, the fixed optical fiber will not be secure and the optical fiber will shake during cutting.

4. Blade height: Changes in the height of the cleaver blade may also result in an inability to cut or poor cutting angle.

5. The upper cover is not pressed firmly: the upper cover of the fiber optic cleaver is not pressed firmly, the rubber pad cannot be tightly sealed, and the optical fiber cannot be fixed well.
